Eating from the Farmstand Locavore Bag – April 3rd – April 5th

Standard

This week’s bag features a few unique items like sweet English peas, vibrant watermelon radish, and hearty turnips.  ImageRemember English peas are not like snow and snap peas.  English peapods cannot be eaten.  Although their pods are great for flavor in stock.  You should shell the peas just prior to cooking unless you are making our Grilled Pea Recipe below.  Here is a quick and easy way to shell: Break off the stem and pull the fibrous string down the length of the pod. Press each pod between your thumbs and forefingers to open, pushing out the individual peas. Rinse and drain the peas, discarding pods, stems, and strings. (www.yumsugar.com)
